Wow! High Speed Film Experiments

February 19th, 2007 by mystic

Main features:

1) Directors and DOPs love its ease of use, because Pirate have integrated the camera with a live-image video eyepiece, a full range of cine lenses, accessories and optional Motion Control, producing film-like quality images without the hassle and expense of shooting film.

2) The image sensor is 320 ASA film equivalent, so typical shots require only 2 x 10kW lights, resulting in a very low lighting bill.

3) Pirate have our own 2,000sqft studio in West London, although shooting on location is no problem. In addition, Pirate have Super 16mm cameras available too - for example one camera shoots at an amazing 10,000fps!

Pirate also hire high speed analogue video kits for self-operation, for use as video assists with high speed film cameras.

Fluid Polygons and Polyhedra Photos

FLUID POLYGONS AND POLYHEDRA PICTURE

“When a vertical water jet strikes a circular horizontal impactor, the water is deflected into a horizontal sheet. At sufficiently high speeds, the flow results in a circular water sheet, whose radius is set by a balance between inertial and curvature forces. At lower speeds, the sheet sags significantly under the influence of gravity, and may close, giving rise to a water bell (Figure 1). We have conducted a series of experiments in order to investigate the influence of increasing fluid viscosity on fluid sheets and bells.”

Half Man Half Robot, NO REALLY!

January 26th, 2007 by mystic

Here we have a video of this wonderful man who has been set up, implanted with these robotic arms. The arms work from the nerve endings impulses sent right from his brain. Acting in this way is very similar if not identical in process to the average healthy and physically functional human. Take a look!

This is a beautiful video of a water ballon being poked with a nail. The video below was taken with a high speed camera. Wonderous experiences seem to lay just out of the reach of natural perception. Enjoy.
